He's Got the Whole World in His Hands

He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands-Kadir Nelson(9/19/08)
I really enjoyed this book. I think that it has fantastic pictures. I love the use of colors and how beautiful the text and the illustrations go together. This is a good book to show to any age of children because even if they don’t know how to read, they will learn the music and understand the meaning of it when it is explained by the teacher. The use of words “he’s got the whole world in his hands”, gave the tickles. It brought a feeling of being special, unique, and appreciated. I think that it is amazing that Nelson illustrates a black boy in all the drawings because it gives the meaning that we are all equal. This book can be integrated into multiculturalism and bringing about the differences and uniqueness of each one of us. This is a good book so that races can relate to each other and understand that everyone is special and that anything is achievable when the text states “whole world in his hands”. This gives understanding to the reader that anything is possible and achievable. I enjoyed the book a lot and would recommend it to anyone.
